Historic Wedding Venues in Westchester County

Mansions, estates, castles and historic houses in Westchester that take weddings, with what each one publishes.

Westchester has more surviving Gilded Age houses per square mile than almost anywhere else in the country, and a good number of them take weddings. Some are private clubs in old clubhouses. Some are museums that rent rooms. A few are neither and say so.

History is also where venue marketing gets loosest. Founding years get borrowed from a parent company, architects get attributed without a source, and a building gets described as a former estate with no estate named. Where we could not verify a date, our page says the claim is the venue’s own.

Every venue here also appears in its main category.

20 of these are estates and 5 are museums or historic sites that rent rooms. A museum is a different contract from a catering hall: the curfew is usually earlier, the caterer is usually from a list, and open flame is usually out. Those three lines decide more historic weddings than the architecture does.

Access varies just as widely. 23 of the 42 take a booking from anyone, 5 are clubs in old clubhouses that need a member behind the event, and 10 publish nothing either way. Another 4 turned out not to take weddings at all, and we left those pages up as corrections rather than quietly deleting them. The access line on each card says which.

14 of the 42 have a per person figure on record from any source at all, first party or marketplace. That is the state of pricing in this county, and it is why every listing here leads with what is published rather than with a photograph.
